The art crates in which galleries deliver artwork are large, sturdy pieces of furniture that are typically used for the one-time purpose of shipping an artwork. My friend the carpenter often admired these crates that are beautifully crafted from solid pine and wondered how these can be repurposed and not simply discarded. This is how MFA was born.
Crates that were meant for one-time use and shipped expensive artworks through international ports are now appreciated in a new way: bar storage with a custom touch, an old-school record cabinet, a surprise home for your pet, and a cabinet that stores your prints.
Each with their own unique past and story.
The bar maintains its crate aesthetic, which we love from the outside, and offers a beautiful interior that is a surprise when opened.
Additionally, the bar is customizable to showcase your favorite artist. The frames allow the art to be easily customized with artworks or photography.
This bar features the American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat and is accompanied by two prints and a coffee table book that features the artist’s work.
